Supporting schools to inspire a love of reading, one box at a time. Founded by a serving Primary Headteacher, Book in a Box helps schools put high-quality reading materials directly into the hands of children who need them most.
Our monthly subscription delivers an exciting package straight to each child's home (or school), giving them something special to look forward to, enjoy and treasure.
Our school subscriptions work slightly differently to our website SHOP subscriptions.
📚 What’s in Each Box?
Every month, for £15 children receive:
✔️ A high-quality, age-appropriate book (carefully selected from recommended reading lists)
✔️ A magazine
✔️ A workbook or craft item to enhance engagement
These boxes encourage reading for pleasure, introduce children to a variety of texts, and provide them with books they may not have chosen themselves. They love receiving their own post to treasure!
🔄 Flexible Subscription Options for School
We understand every school’s budget and needs differ, so we offer:
✅ Full flexibility - sign up as many or as few children as you wish (from 1 to 250+)
✅ Flexible frequency - monthly, termly, or one-off boxes (most schools opt for ongoing monthly subscriptions)
✅ Delivery options - to the school or directly to children’s homes (with parental consent)
✅ Automatic progression - at the end of the academic year, we move children up a year group and remove Year 6 pupils automatically
📌 Billing: Schools are invoiced monthly when boxes are sent. Payment can be made by BACs or cheque.
🔐 GDPR & Data Protection
If sending boxes to children’s homes, parental permission is required before sharing addresses with us. No need to send us the forms-by completing the attached spreadsheet, you confirm permission has been obtained.
